Jiong Guo passed away peacefully in Peace Arch Hospital on 25th February caused by sepsis and N-STEMI related with liver cancer, with family by his side.
Jiong Guo was born Feb 9th, 1958 in Nanjing, China, while his place of ancestry is Mizhi, Shaanxi. He attended elementary and high school in Beijing. His university major was automation and he earned a Master degree in 1988. He went to the National Space Science Centre in 1982 after graduation from Nanjing Institute of Technology. He retired as a global cooperation director with honor of several awards in the spacecraft technology.
Jiong was a kind, gentle, generous, wise man with great reputation. He was gifted in almost every field: while being an engineer at work, he was an artist and musician at home. He had created numerous beautiful artworks in his life though he had never studied art professionally.
He enjoyed collecting unique instruments from different stores and had enthusiasm to learn all of them. He also demonstrated his talent in cooking, baking, translating, writing, story telling, and performing magic tricks during his life.
Jiong was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016 and battled bravely for almost 5 years before he passed away. He is survived by his wife Hongyang Tan, his daughter Beichen Guo, and his sister Ling, brother Ming, sister-in-law Tina's family, brother in law Zhen Tan's family, sweet neighbours Israr & Marita, as well as other relatives and friends who cared about him. Jiong is now with his mother Xizhu Liu and father Shoudao Guo.
His family wishes to thank the staff of Peace Arch Hospital ,BC Cancer Agency and White Rock Home Health for their kindness and caring support. Jiong had a richly colorful life and he will be sorely missed by his loved ones.
