December 18, 1951 - December 2, 2023
It is with heartbreaking and overwhelming sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Joy Woodhall on December 2, 2023.
She will be affectionately remembered and deeply missed by her loving daughter, Kimberley (Woodhall) Klecker, her fond son-in-law, Mike Kleckner and her very special grandson, Trace Kleckner.
She is also survived by her wonderful Mother, who Joy adored and cared so much for. Joy will also be extremely missed by her 6 siblings: sister Allie Chapman, sister Yvonne Armstrong, (husband Dennis), brother Gene McEvoy (wife Donna), brother Bill McEvoy, sister Pearl Pidlubny (husband Ron) and her sister Barb Bock (husband Paul). She will also be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, who will all remember Auntie Joy's great hugs.
Joy was born on December 18, 1951, and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario. She moved to Winnipeg in her late teens where she met her late husband, Andy Woodhall. They moved to White Rock BC in 1977 where Joy has resided ever since.
In her younger years in White Rock, she enjoyed all the many friends during her exciting baseball years as well as always enjoying a game of pool. She has many cherished friends from these happy, fun, and entertaining years.
Joy has worked in a variety of establishments in White Rock over the years. She spent over 25 years between People's Drug Mart and Rexall and loved what she did. She was still employed at Rexall at the time of her passing. She could never imagine not seeing her customers and co-workers each day. Joy considered them her second family, this was her second home.
She was nurturing by nature with a soft spot for her senior community. Joy always went above and beyond to help her customers and always knew how to make someone smile, to feel special and to let people know she was there for them. Always caring, always welcoming.
Joy enjoyed her later years, walking home from work then feet up looking forward to the latest novel she just purchased, as reading was her most enjoyable past time as well as watching her favourite TV shows, mainly the "cooking" channel. She always looked forward to her phone calls weekly to her Mom in Ontario and her many treasured phone conversations with her very cherished daughter, Kimberley in Florida.
It didn't seem to matter where you went when you were with Joy, being the mall, small store, or small gatherings/events, it was inevitable she was going to be stopped by someone she knew/met in her many years living in White Rock. She had such a bubbly and caring personality that she shared with everyone she met, affecting so many.
Joy was truly one of a kind and will be missed by everyone she touched. We love you dearly and we hold you in our heart with so many fond memories - until we see you again.
A Celebration of life will be held at Peach Arch Curling Club March 2, 2024, from 3-6pm.
