Faust, Henning Marcus

August 4th, 1974 - November 25th, 2006

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Henning Marcus Faust. His life was suddenly and tragically cut short in an accident while he was back country skiing on Mount Baker with his brother and close friends.

Henning was born in White Rock, B.C. He attended White Rock Elementary School and Earl Marriott Secondary School, and participated in numerous activities in the area. He developed strong ties to the community, making deep friendships that lasted throughout his life. He spent years working with bicycles, riding and racing them with great energy and success. He graduated from Simon Fraser University with an Honours degree in Criminology and went on to complete his Law degree at the University of Victoria. He spent a semester as a law student working in Iqualuit, Nunavut. Henning clerked at the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and articled and worked at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in Vancouver. He was called to the bar in 2004.

Henning loved the outdoors and had a great sense of adventure. He was an avid back country skier, a keen mountaineer and an accomplished cyclist. He spent many weekends hiking, climbing and cycling with his family, friends and colleagues.

Henning’s interest in the world took him to many countries. He traveled through Thailand and trekked through the Himalayas in Nepal. In 2002, he spent the summer riding his bicycle from Portugal to Turkey, covering over 10,000 kilometers. He visited Peru, Indonesia, Iceland and Ecuador, where he dived with the sea lions of the Galapagos Islands.

Henning’s zest for life and his determination to live life to the fullest was present in everything he did. His intelligence, drive, athletic prowess, and flair were complemented by his light-hearted mischievous wit, and his wonderful sense of humour. He brought laughter to all those around him.

Henning was dearly loved by his father Werner Faust, brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Rosaria Faust, his partner, Joanna Mullard, her family and his many relatives in Germany. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Those wishing to make a donation in Henning’s memory can do so to a charity of their choice. A Scholarship will also be created in his name.
