Marilyn pass away at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Richmond, B C. and attended school there, graduating from Richmond High in 1964. She then attended the University of B. C. where she earned her Bachelor of Education degree.
Marilyn began her career at Richardson Elementary School in Delta where she remained for 35 years, teaching two generations of mainly grade four and five students. She was loved and respected by both teaching colleagues and pupils who eulogized her as thoughtful, talented, creative and most of all, great fun.
Marilyn is survived by David, her dedicated husband of 49 years who was also her primary caregiver during her illness. They were worldwide travellers, earlier visiting the United Kingdom 12 times as well as making trips across Canada, the United States, Norway, Iceland and numerous other countries. David and Marilyn operated the popular Ocean Rose Bed & Breakfast in White Rock for the past 22 years. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Doug and Rose Barton.
