March 1, 1924 - April 26, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary "Molly" Muir Pryde Marshall Bird, on Friday April 26, 2019, at 95 years young.
Molly was born on March 1, 1924 to Barbara Morrison Conquer Marshall and Thomas Teasdale Marshall in Glasgow, Scotland. Predeceased by her parents and her sister Matilda "Meta" Donnelly, her brother Tommy Marshall and her loving husband John Thomas "Tom" Hunter Bird.
Molly and Tom met on a blind date and were lovingly married for 59 years before his passing in 2002. Life was filled with hard work, love and change. In her early years, she was a pharmacist assistant, later moving into retail sales and finally caring for the elderly as a care aid. With her beloved Tom, she survived World War II, raised a family, and finally moved from Scotland to Canada in 1973. It was here they found a life of peace and joy. Mum always worried about other people's feelings before hers and created many wonderful memories for all to cherish. Her favourite things to do were to go camping in their trailer and spend time with her family. Our dear Mum had the kindest of hearts, was organized to the end and was the glue of our family. She is survived by her sons John (Linda) and Derek (Jeannie); daughters Barbara and Lesley (Michael); grandchildren Gillian, Claire, Scott, Graham, Chris, Ryan and April and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial service to be held at 1 pm on May 11, 2019 at Fraser Heights Chapel 14835 Fraser Hwy, Surrey, BC, followed by refreshments. Rev. Faith Bateman officiating. Flowers graciously accepted at Fraser Heights Chapel or in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
