December 22, 1919 - May 30, 2020
Melvin ("Mel") George Ralston of White Rock, died on May 30, 2020 after a brief illness at the age of 100. Mel was born December 22, 1919 in Biggar, Saskatchewan, the son of William Ralston and Sarah (nee Mitchell) Ralston and was the last of his family, having survived his siblings: Jim, Bill, Harvey, and Gladys (Ralston) Thomson. He was predeceased in 1978 by his first wife Irene (nee Stender), the mother of his 3 sons and by his second wife, Rosemary (nee Trotter) Watson in 2018. He is survived by his sons: Kieth (Sylvia), Warren (Barbra), and Daniel, his stepsons, Tom and Jim Watson, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mel wrote that one of the greatest inspirations in his life was: "when Christ came into my life at the age of 14 and I found peace and salvation in Jesus Christ". He attended Bible College and became a Baptist pastor serving various communities and congregations for 65 years and was a wonderful mentor and friend. He enjoyed helping people young and old and had happy memories of many friends of a lifetime. Although most of his friends had gone before him, he confidently stated that he expected to meet them again in heaven. In looking back Mel wrote "I would not change anything; I had a blessed life, though I wish I had spent more time with my boys when they were growing up - I love them very much."
A private family graveside interment will be held at a later date.
