Mervin MCDONALD

June 6, 2012

MCDONALD, Mervin, J. April 16, 1918 - June 6, 2012. It is with deep sadness we say goodbye to Mervin. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and grew up in a large, warm and loving family. Mervin was predeceased by his parents, five brothers and one sister. He will be greatly missed by his two younger sisters Margaret Marshall of Winnipeg & Rita Janzen of Saskatoon & his many nieces and nephews located across Canada. Mervin enjoyed traveling & visiting extended family. He enjoyed taking photos of every vacation & family visit and had an extensive photo collection. He was always one to send copies of the photos to family from his vacation. Mervin took great pride in staying connected with his family and regularly visited his nieces, nephews and their families over the years. After he was unable to travel, his extended family visited him in White Rock or telephoned him regularly. Although Mervin did not live close to family members, he loved living in White Rock, and was the city's greatest ambassador. He was the family genealogist and enjoyed staying in touch with his parents extended families from the Gatineau area and tracing his family roots back to Ireland. Mervin enjoyed his "sweet" treats and every family member and friend knew if Mervin was in town the desserts had to be special and sweet. Mervin was blessed with an abundance of very good friends who he enjoyed spending time with and celebrating birthdays and holidays together.

Service will be held June 22, at 1:00pm at Star of the Sea in White Rock, followed by a tea at Good Shepherd 2250 150th St. Sry. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of one's choice.
