BOGDANE (nee Nicholson)

Mildred Harvey

Aug 4, 1914 – Dec 18, 2016

A sparkling new Silver Sea Gull will be found in the clouds and at the seashore. Millie has recycled her soul as planned to be her favorite free spirit travelling critter. She died at peace following the annoying decline in her capacity from a series of strokes. She likely had a pause to rest and transition in heaven; reconnect with pre-deceased son Jack, and spouse Griff prior to jauntily heading off to a new adventure. Always spunky and flamboyantly dressed, Mildred was born in Gollier, Saskatchewan. She was a self reliant and determined woman independently raising a daughter and son; worked hard at many things, including her own hairdressing salon. Known for creativity, she sewed everything including his and her outfits for Halloween and special occasions, creative hats, arts and crafts winning prizes at the PNE and Champion Medals for Ping Pong at BC Seniors Games. Millie did her own renovations to her homes in Point Roberts, Stevens Avenue in White Rock, and graduating to apartment living uptown. She and Griff, her 2nd chance mature romance and partner, sailed, wind surfed at 65, fished in Semiahmoo Bay and took countless road trips in the van on far flung travels across North America, then globally included 12 cruises. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis in Montana, loyal niece Coreen and many other nieces and nephews, and her grandchildren Denise & Brent, and as well as fondly remembered by extended family, including her caregiving companion/ surrogate daughter Pat, and many fine friends, especially Arline. Come spring, a private modest Celebration of Millie’s Life will be held and her ashes to be scattered at sea. Donations in her memory may go to SPCA or Kent Seniors Centre.
