Muriel Mason (nee Collinge)

July 18, 1926 - October 10, 2019
Muriel Mason passed away October 10th, 2019, in White Rock, BC, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by parents Ethel and Ernest, and brother, Jim. Survived by her husband of 69 years, Colin, she also leaves daughters Kathy, (Greg), Rosalind, (Thomas), son Clive, (Chainie and son, Bill), grand-children Christina, Beth, Lindsay-Anne and Wesley, and great grand-children Maryn and Ronan, Gavin and Aubree, and Aria and Brady.
Born July 18, 1926, in Bacup, Lancashire, England, Muriel met Colin at a dance at Leeds University just before the end of the Second World War. They were married in 1950 and Muriel worked as a Home Economics teacher before she and Colin emigrated to Canada in 1953. Their three children were born in Ontario, and several moves later, including one back to England, the family settled in North Vancouver in 1967. While raising her family and teaching part-time, Muriel learned how to swim and drive, took auto mechanics and various art courses, hosted a cable TV program and acted in CTV's "Magistrate's Court". The family dog, Winnifred, was her constant companion and she and Colin organized family vacations exploring the Pacific Northwest. Muriel started working at the North Vancouver City Library in 1977, in the Taped Books Department, a job that she thoroughly enjoyed. In 1986, a few years before they retired, Muriel and Colin moved to White Rock, where Muriel enjoyed swimming in their pool and the ocean view from their dream home for over 30 years. After retirement, Muriel went on several cruises with Colin, and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent gardener, and she and Colin attended various local churches. During the last 18 months, Muriel made many friends at the Evergreen Campus of Care.
A Memorial Service will be held in The Chapel at Evergreen Campus of Care, 1550 Oxford St, White Rock, on Saturday, November 9th, 2019, at 2 pm. Interment will be Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2 pm at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 28th Ave, Surrey.
