It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather 19 days after the death of our mother, Ingrid.

He is survived by four daughters, Heidi Magnuson-Ford (David), Leah Lempesis (Bill), Ruth Magnuson (Chris Pearce) and Sonja Magnuson (Chris Dolman); ten grandchildren Julia (Phil), Karen (Patrick), Erika (Brandon), Alan (Brooke), Kyle (Vanessa), Brianna (Delroy), Kevin, Desiree, Jonah and Clara as well as one great-grandson, Mason.

Richard will be remembered by many as a caring and compassionate pastor. He served congregations in Oregon, California, Nebraska and Manitoba focused primarily on youth and outdoor ministry. Richard had a keen sense for new initiatives instrumental in the development of Luther Village church camp in Northwestern Ontario and a preschool at First Lutheran Church, Kearney NE.

Richard was a wonderful father and Opa. He provided wisdom and support; BBQs, fishing expeditions and gardening including a fish pond involved the whole family. Stained glass was his retirement career creating windows and panels that adorn the homes of many.

Dad and mom were a beautiful pair. They supported and complemented each other throughout their 62 years of marriage. We will miss them.

A quiet interment of Richard's ashes will take place at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, White Rock BC on February 4, 2018.

A Celebration of Life for both Richard and Ingrid will take place on February 10, 2018 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Winnipeg, 400 Buckingham Road at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one's church or a charity of one's choosing.
