Jan 16, 2018
Passed away on January 16th, 2018 in his home in White Rock. His heart stopped suddenly, early in the morning, after bravely living with pancreatic cancer over the past year.

Born in Blackpool, England to mother Hilda and father Eric, Robert was the second eldest in a family of five siblings. He immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1974 where he met his wife of 42 years, Kathy Szajnfeld. The couple spent their unique lives traveling and working around the world, and raising a family together, daughter Alix and son Michael. They settled and eventually retired in White Rock, a place they grew to love and call home.

A counsellor with a PhD in psychology from the University of Toronto, Robert lived his life of 68 years boldly, always with a sense of humour and passion for adventure. He loved the sea, wide-open spaces, strong coffee, good whiskey, the music of his youth, the tv show Friends, and English Premier League Football, and taking walks anywhere with his family.

An avid reader, he would often be found on the couch absorbed in books from the local library or doing the Sunday crossword.

He will be greatly missed by his family as well as numerous friends at home and around the world.

Robert was dearly loved, admired and cherished by those who had the good fortune of knowing him.
