September 19, 1939 - August 7, 2022
After a courageous battle with cancer, Rochelle St. Mars passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
Rochelle was pre-deceased by her husband, Roland, her brother Marcel, and her granddaughter Brooke.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nicole (Wayne), Colette (Randy) and her grandson Kyle; as well as her Sister Ilene (Russell), Brothers Gilles (Doreen), Camille (Barbara), Claude, sister-in-law Louise (Marcel), brother-in-law Paul (Sheila) and her many nieces, nephews & friends, especially those at The Summit.
Rochelle was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on September 19, 1939 and grew up in the small town of St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba just outside of Winnipeg. She eventually moved to Winnipeg and started working at Western Grocers as an Accounting Clerk. From there she then went on to work for Canada Revenue Services until her retirement in 2000.
It was while working at Western Grocers that she met her soulmate, Roland. They married on June 2, 1962 and went on to have two daughters, Nicole & Colette.
After Roland's passing in 2001, Rochelle moved to BC to be closer to Nicole, Wayne and Colette, but most importantly, she came to help raise her grandson, Kyle.
She and Kyle had a bond like no other and he held a special place in her heart. She was more than just a Memere to Kyle, they were also the best of friends.
Rochelle felt blessed and was so very proud of her two sons-in-law, Wayne and Randy. "Where did I go wrong with my daughters?" she would ask, since Wayne and Randy were the true chefs in the family!
Rochelle loved sports like no other. She was more than just a loving Mom to her daughters growing up, she was also a Mom to their friends. She loved life and all the things it had to offer. Nicole & Colette were fortunate enough to go on many family vacations with their Mom over the years, and fondly remember special cruises to Alaska to celebrate her 70th birthday, to the Mediterranean to commemorate her 75th birthday, and to Alaska with her sister Ilene to celebrate her 80th birthday.
The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Katherine Paton, Dr. Alina Gerrie and Dr. Rebecca Harrison for their ongoing care over the last 2 ½ years.
Additional thanks to Dr. Rahiminejad and staff on 5N at Peace Arch Hospital, and also to Brenda, Tracey, Jetmir, Niraja and Gwenn at Laurel Place Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rochelle's name to the BC Cancer Foundation.
"We luv u 2 day, Momma-loo. See you in Heaven"
