Sylvia Vervloet (nee Hallok) of Calgary, Alberta passed away in hospice on Sunday, August 15, 2021 after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Cornelis "Casey" Vervloet and his four children, Hermine (Kevin) Robinson, Martin (Melodie) Vervloet, Niels (Denise) Vervloet, James Vervloet and by her stepson, John Odlum.
Sylvia grew up in Ontario where she completed a 3 year nurse training program before moving to British Columbia. In 1975, she graduated from UBC with a degree in
Nursing and she later achieved her Masters in Psychology. Her career was a great source of adventure and satisfaction to Sylvia.
In 1984, she married Casey and moved to Calgary. Upon their retirement in 1995, the couple moved back to BC and lived in South Surrey for over 2 decades before returning to Calgary to be closer to family.
Sylvia will be dearly missed by her family, including her brother, Larry (Elizabeth) Hallok; her sister, Evelyn Palidwor; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and numerous relatives in Ontario.
She was predeceased by her parents and her younger sister, Helen.
A Celebration of Sylvia's Life will be held in Calgary at a later date yet to be determined.
