April 20, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ulrich Blume after a long battled illness.
Uli was a bright spark and left this world surrounded by his loved ones on April 20th 2022.
He is survived by his son Tyson (Carlie) and his two grandchildren Mischa and Sebastian.
Uli grew up in a small town in north west Westfalia, Germany. He left his home at age 13 to begin his education as a chef. Once finished his apprenticeship he left Germany to begin his career as a chef.
During the 60's and 70's Uli used this diverse profession to travel and work throughout Europe, Canada, and Central America. He would finally decide to make Canada his home in the mid-seventies.
In 1985 Uli moved to White Rock, B.C and opened what would later become his legacy and a well-known White Rock fixture—his European bistro, Uli's restaurant.
When friends and family speak of Uli they describe a boisterous, fun-loving person who lived for a good game of chess, long drives in one of his many amazing cars, or holding court to anyone who would bend an ear to listen at his restaurant, a coffee shop or just walking down the street.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation to Sources White Rock be made at https;//sourcesfoundation.ca/give/
