CAIN, Wilfred John Anthony (Bill)

June 13, 1938 - Feb. 6, 2012. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye too early to our dear husband, dad, brother, uncle and friend. Bill died suddenly at home, in South Surrey, BC. Bill was an active man of many and various interests and talents. He loved horses, and rode often as a youth on his family's ranch at Bragg Creek near Calgary. He was a lover of Shakespearean books and plays, wrote poems and collected anecdotes, stories and jokes whenever and wherever he could. He was a master of bridge and card games of all sorts. Bill was an all-round sports enthusiast. He played baseball, football and hockey, loved skiing, and coached soccer for many years at the high school level, played golf into retirement, and rounded out his retirement by competing in several BC Senior Games, trying a myriad of sports - softball, track and field, cycling, mountain biking, and pickle ball. Bill is survived by his loving wife Sheila, daughter Catherine Higginson (Gordon), son Anthony (Audra), 7 grandchildren, brothers Gary, Doran, Darrell (Carol), Gerry (Lynn), John, sister Madonna Dyson (Russ),sister-in-law Eleanor Hodgins, and 16 nieces and nephews, 19 grand nieces and nephews, and his dog Beni. A funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2250-150th St., Surrey on February 14th at 1:30pm followed by a reception in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
