DYKE, William (Bill) T.

August 12, 1921 - November 18, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Dyke. The family would like to thank Dr. Glenn Anderson and the staff at Peace Arch Hospital for the exceptional care and kindness given to Bill throughout his final days. Bill was born in England, immigrated to Canada in 1931 where the family farmed in Woodstock, NB. Bill moved to Toronto in 1944 where he joined the Army. He was posted at various locations throughout Canada before his final post to Dawson Creek to take over the Loran Station from the US Army. He met Rose in Dawson Creek in 1946 and they married in 1947. After the war he was involved in a number of construction projects around Dawson Creek. They owned Dyke Construction (1954-1979) and built many projects around BC & Alberta. Bill was an active member of Rotary for 62 years, as he said "Joining Rotary was the best thing I did in 1954". They purchased Coast Meridian Golf Course in South Surrey in 1967 which they owned until 1990 then retired to White Rock. Bill & Rose enjoyed their season tickets for many years with the Vancouver Canucks and BC Lions. Among his many passions were river boating, fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, volunteering, travelling & spending quality time with family and friends. Survived by the love of his life Rose of 69 years, sister Doreen and many nieces & nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 1pm 18150 - 8th Avenue, Surrey. Light refreshments will be served.
