MILLER, William (Bill) Charles
March 5, 1939 – January 11, 2014
Bill passed away peacefully on Saturday January 11th, 2014 at Peach Arch Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years Hilda (nee Huber), son Cameron, daughter-in-law Meg, daughter Janet McDougall, son-in-law Craig and six grandchildren, Declan, Kyle, Michaela, Evan, Callum and Paige. Bill is predeceased by his parents Edward (Ted) and Isabelle and his sister Sally. He is also survived by brothers Robert (Bob) (Jean), John (Louise) and Carl (Diane) as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all his family and by the extended Huber family.
Bill was born and grew up in Edmunston, New Brunswick. After graduating from Cormier High School, Bill attended Mount Allison University. However, after two years he followed his dream and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and after training was posted to Winnipeg. He left the Air Force in 1960, stayed in Winnipeg and met the love of his life, Hilda.
It was in Winnipeg where Bill started a successful career in the warehousing industry. He started as a warehouse clerk and retired in 1994 as a well-respected president of SeaWay MidWest. During his career Bill had many moves across the country, and with each move, another step up the ladder. These moves, from the east coast to the west coast and the many places in between, enabled the Miller family to make friends all across the country. Bill was well known for his ability to tell a joke or a story and make people laugh. His house was regularly full of people who enjoyed his prowess with the BBQ and his taste in fine wine. Like all Miller’s Bill loved cards and golf and was always ready to play either game. After retirement he indulged in his passion for family and travel. Over the years, he and Hilda travelled throughout the world, enjoying many different countries and places with good friends or just the two of them. While we will miss his love, friendship, humour and jokes, we will cherish the time we had together.

We also thank our many friends for their years of support and encouragement. Donations in Bill’s name can be made to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society of BC.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2350 - 148th Street, Surrey, BC on Friday January 17th at 1:00 PM.
