While I appreciate Tricia Weel’s article on the never-ending policing saga, the polling results confirm that the top-down approach of our NDP provincial government is not working.

Why not settle this conundrum once and for all by allowing the Surrey residents to decide in a binding referendum? Another poll solves nothing.

The RCMP came to Surrey in 1951 by a binding referendum. Only a binding referendum will allow the Surrey residents to move on. If the current provincial government will not allow this, perhaps a new provincial government in October 2024 will give us that choice. This is our opportunity to say no to government overreach and yes to local decision-making in the city of Surrey.
