LETTER: Semiahmoo biogas opponents are not ‘NIMBY nasties’

Editor,

Re: NIMBYs should quiet down, PAN letters, March 28

I was very disappointed to see another letter from an ill-informed, name-calling reader, published in your paper when you have yet to publish any of my letters on the same topic.

The residents who oppose the Biogas facility being proposed on Semiahmoo First Nation lands are not Nimby nasties or motivated by non-Indigenous sentiments.

We are well-informed people who have done the research and trust well-respected environmental scientists when they tell us this project will harm the environment and wildlife.

We also trust the environmental engineers who have stepped forward without compensation, to provide their expertise on this matter and the numerous studies we have found that tell us that if this project goes ahead, it will adversely affect our health and pollute the air we breathe.

We do not believe a foreign corporate entity who suddenly restructures and leaves the country.

Or the remaining company who suddenly changed its name, is in it only for the money and who convinced the SFN people this project would do no harm!
