Editor,
Once again our local MP, Kerry-Lynne Findlay, cites incomplete facts.
This time it is on the B.C. carbon tax that has been in place for 16 years and four B..C premiers.
Yes, B.C. does collect $9.1 billion in carbon tax and provides $3.5 billion in tax credits to low- and middle-income recipients. However, what she fails to mention is that the remaining $5.6 billion is directed towards proven low-carbon-emission investments such as pubic transportation, zero emission vehicles and heat pumps.
There is no need to cherry-pick facts to try and make a point.
Also, for a senior MP to imply that the recent three cent/litre tax is responsible for the increase in food bank usage is clearly over-the-top.
There is no need for her to drag disadvantaged people into a climate policy discussion.
She needs to get serious if she wants to govern.
