This has been a controversial development site from the start.

The site of the 12-storey building being built on Vidal Street is surrounded by new townhome developments and older low-rise apartment buildings, with difficult access to the street for large vehicles.

If it had not been for the vigilance of the residents of Vidal Street, this information would not have come to light. The developer would have gotten away with doing the demolition work without a permit.

It is troubling to me as a resident of White Rock how many buildings could have possibly been built without proper permits in place.

City hall should be more observant when it comes to these large developments. They are big projects and need to be regulated and overseen by city hall.

A fine of $1,400 is very low for these large developers who make millions of dollars selling these properties to off-shore customers at highly inflated prices.
