By now, the video(s) of the CMBC Community Shuttle bus sliding down the hill on 160th Street between 28th and 30th Avenues is/are totally viral.

Comments condemning the operator of the coach were rampant. The comments asking about the condition of the operator and possible passengers onboard were almost non-existent.

My comment is concerning the fact that there was no signs nor barricades at the top of this very steep hill, closing access to the street.

It’s not like this storm was a surprise. It had been predicted all week.

There was even a “special weather announcement.”

The city of Surrey fell down on this one.

As for the shuttle operator, he or she was a hero. Imagine if they had allowed the coach to continue picking up speed and it reaching 32nd Avenue.

It was rush-hour and the traffic on 32nd was moving at a snail’s pace. The end result would surely have been tragic. The city needs to step up their game instead of relying on blind luck.
