It appears that snow removal has become a major challenge for cities around the Lower Mainland. Is it a challenge or is it a case of selective services?

Without question, the amount of snow we have received in December is not common, but that should in no way be used as an excuse for delayed or non-existent service.

The city has clearly been “on-vacation” for the past few weeks. Snow is not being properly cleared in high traffic areas like the promenade near the museum. Sidewalks on long stretches of Marine Drive with dangerously deep snow completely forsaken?

Washrooms shut down in all locations on the Promenade with no options. There are areas however, that do get priority like the parking lots near the pier. Clearing the parking lots for visitors to the city is apparently much more important than clearing sidewalks for residents. It’s shocking really, and when phoning the city on the morning of Dec. 31, the message said the office was closed due to a statutory holiday. In my recollection, New Year’s Eve is not a stat holiday.
