Thank you for the uplifting story about well-respected Jack Mar and his wife, Arleen.
It’s always a pleasure to read about community leaders in Peace Arch News. Jack certainly has been a boon to CARP – A New Vision of Aging for Canada.
For your readers who do not know about CARP or still associate it with ‘retired persons’, I would like to offer an update. Our chapters are reaching out to younger Canadians – we have members in their 20s! – exchanging ideas, teaching skills and developing ideas that can positively influence health, caregiving, education, housing and the workplace to the benefit of all age groups. CARP is an energizing and creative process. We have more than 300,000 members and 60 chapters nationwide and are Canada’s largest and most powerful non-profit advocacy association.
As well as championing social change that will bring us and future generations financial security, equitable and timely access to health care and freedom from age discrimination, we also provide value-added benefits, products and services to members and present a variety of events in the community.
Our next event features a barbecue and presentation by award-winning Global TV anchor Chris Gailus on Aug. 28 at Rotary Field House at South Surrey Athletic Park.
