LETTERS: Why is parking lot of closed swimming pool a snow-clearing priority for Surrey?

It was interesting reading about the snow clearing, or lack of, after the latest snow storms.

My daughter was woken up by a strange noise at 4:30 a.m. after the first dumping of snow. She got up to see what it was, and guess what? It was a snow plow cleaning the snow from the South Surrey swimming pool parking lot even though the pool has not been used for nearly two years.

The excuse may have been that it was cleared for the one or two students from Semiamoo Secondary who park there, but school was out and therefore it was not being used.

So, here we are after a record snowfall and – guess what – the parking lot at the pool is clear of snow again.

Possibly the money spent on clearing the parking lot could have been saved and put toward the cost of reopening the pool.

Perhaps this is as strange as watching Surrey workers blowing leaves off a soccer field when the season had finished and blowing the leaves off the paths through Sunnyside Acres only to see more leaves keep falling off the trees behind them.

I guess it may have something to do with insurance but who knows?
