Recap and Results:
- The host White Rock Renegades Sr. team went 1-1 on Tuesday to move into a tie for third place in the Women's Elite division. White Rock won their game against Team BC, 13-7, and pitcher Sarah Hopwood went 5.1 innings with four strikeouts while allowing seven hits. White Rock dropped their game against Great Britain (who is tied with them in third place), 7-0. The Renegades are 4-2 in the tournament. Marina Groenewegen leads the Renegades with a .545 average through six games.
- The California A's remain undefeated in the Women's Elite division and had a whale of a Tuesday, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 21-0. In their first game, California defeated Indonesia-Jakarta, 10-0, and pitcher Amanda Horowitz threw a perfect game. California pitcher Erin Wesley then threw a one-hitter later in the day against the St. Louis Extreme Elite, as the A's won 11-0. California sits atop the Women's Elite division with a 6-0 record.
- China-Liaoning is third in the Women's Elite division with a 5-1 record. Team BC and Indonesia-Jakarta are still searching for their first wins.
- The Duncan Dragons defeated Fleetwood Force 95, 4-3, to win the Showcase Select division on Tuesday, while Surrey Storm 95 defeated Ridge Meadows Ridge 95, 10-1 to win the Futures Select division.
What's on tap today?
- The Women's International Championship gets started on Wednesday, with Team Canada hosting New Zealand at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Softball City.
- Team USA opens their Fourth of July against Team Venezuela, 3 p.m. at Softball City.
- Defending champions Team Japan open their 2012 Canadian Open against Team New Zealand, while last year's Bronze Medal winners, Team Australia, face Team Puerto Rico at 7:30 p.m.
