Cloverdale wins provincial title

Peewee Bobcats run over Coquitlam Chargers to take top honours

The Cloverdale Bobcats are provincial champs.

The Bobcats—the Cloverdale Community Football Association’s Peewee team (10-year-olds)—ran all over the Coquitlam Chargers 48-0 Nov. 26 at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley to take top honours.

“Our Bobcats had an awesome championship game, capping an undefeated provincial championship season,” said Yeera Sami, president of CCFA.

“The Bobcats dominated in all aspects of the game, scoring 30 points before the half.”

Sami said the entire squad played brilliantly throughout both the season and the playoff run. He added notable standouts from the provincial final game included: Grayson Thomas, Ronan Bobiles, Bryson Osei, Carter Fix, and Noah Sidhu.

Thomas gained 239 rushing yards, scored two TDs, slotted a 28-yard field goal, and was selected as the game’s MVP.

Bobiles scored one touchdown and added one sack and an interception on defense.

Osei earned 80 yards rushing and took the ball to the house twice, while Fix added a touchdown and Sidhu earned a sack.

“The team executed their plays well both on offense and defense,” noted Sami, remarking that they played that way all year—from pre-season, through the regular season, and into the playoffs and the final—finishing the season 9-0.

“(It) made the season a memorable one,” said Sami. “Excellent group of kids and very talented athletes. Good learners.”
