White Rock hockey player Cole Wilson is heading to an NHL camp.

The UBC Thunderbirds leading scorer this past season has been invited to the Washington Capitals’ summer development camp, set for July 6-12.

“This is something I wished for growing up,” said Wilson, a six-foot-two forward.

“I’m definitely excited and looking forward to making the best of my opportunity.

“Now it is just a matter of putting in the work… Keep it simple and go into camp in the best possible shape and take it from there.”

Wilson, who just completed his third year at UBC, was named a Canada West second-team all-star this season after finishing fourth in the conference with 35 points.

He was also second in Canada West with 18 goals.

“It is great to see a player who has grown and developed in the Canada West and CIS to get this type of chance with an NHL club,” said UBC head coach Tyler Kuntz.
