Volunteers aiming to build a baseball field in an impoverished Nicaraguan fishing village are hosting a garage sale this weekend.
On Sunday at Ocean Park Community Hall, South Surrey resident Tammi Larocque – who is spearheading the project – will hold the sale, with all proceeds going to the project.
In mid-September, Larocque’s team will fill a container full of used baseball gear and send it to Jiquilillo, Nicaragua.
In December, Larocque will head there herself to help build a multi-use baseball/soccer field in the small town.
