A young Surrey golfer hit a hole-in-one on the third hole during a junior golf qualifier at Morgan Creek Golf Course over the weekend (April 6-7).
Tiger Yuanjun Liu, 13, showcased remarkable skill in the opening round of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT FCG World Golf Championship Series, carding a par, an eagle, and a hole-in-one within the first three holes.
He posted amazing scores of 68-69 to tie for the lead in the Bantam Boys division, with young MJT veteran Tiger Zhao, 13, from Vancouver (67-70). Zhao ultimately won the division in a nail-biting three-hole playoff, according to an MJT release.
Other high-performing division winners over the two days included other Surrey golfers Mandi Wang, 15, in the MJT Girls 15-19 division (142), and Jackson Wang, 12 (134), in MJT Peewee Boys.

Mandi Wang edged out a one-stroke victory with strong scores of 69 and 73 in her division.
“It feels great to have my first win of the season. I am grateful for my parents and coach for always supporting me,” she said in the release.
Jackson Wang fired outstanding rounds of 69 and 65 to finish 10 under par.
With three eagles and 10 birdies over the course of the weekend, Wang credited his “drivers and iron” for winning this tournament.
Jenny Guo, 12, of West Vancouver (68-70 =138) claimed the Low Overall Girl’s title as the MJT Girls U15 winner, along with Soohan Park, 16, of Langley as Low Overall Boy (73-70=143) in the MJT Juvenile Boys division.
The results mean Mandi Wang qualifies for the East Coast Junior Championship, along with Park, Guo, Zhou, and Zhao.
She and Jackson Wang both also qualify for the FCG World Golf Championship, along with other golfers at the tournament.
