The last unbeaten team has fallen at the BC Scotties women's curling championship in Cloverdale.
Three-time defending champion Kelly Scott of Kelowna lost 9-7 to Abbotsford's Allison MacInnes Wednesday night at the Cloverdale Curling Club, dropping Scott to 5-1 (won-lost).
MacInnes, who improved to 4-2, scored three times in the sixth end to break a 3-3 tie and a take a lead she would hold the rest of the way.
Scott's loss allowed Patti Knezevic of Prince George to move into a tie for first place after Draw 6. Knezevic had little trouble with Simone Groundwater of WIlliams Lake, winning 11-7.
Marla Mallett of the Cloverdale club moved alongside MacInnes into a third -place tie with an 8-5 victory over Lisa Olsen of the Royal City Curling Club.
In a battle of two other Royal City club members, Marilou Richter scored once in the 10th end to edge Kirsten Fox 7-6, a result that left both teams tied for fifth place at 3-3.
Draw 7 takes placed at 11 a.m. this morning (Thursday), with the two first-place teams meeting on Sheet A, one of five games taking place. The top four will advance to the playoff round, which will begin Friday evening.
