Local minor hockey player selected in WHL Bantam Draft

Michael Rasmussen of Surrey was selected seventh overall in the WHL Bantam Draft by the Tri-City Americans.

Michael Rasmussen of Surrey was a first round selection in last week’s Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

The 15-year-old was claimed seventh overall by the Tri-City Americans.

Currently playing and training at the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) in Penticton, Rasmussen is a 6’2” 180 lbs. centre. In 59 games with the OHA’s Bantam team, Rasmussen scored 41 goals and 87 points in 59 games played with 123 penalty minutes.

Prior to joining OHA, Rasmussen played seven seasons with the Semiahmoo Minor Hockey Association.
