The popular Sandcastle City Classic run returns to White Rock streets this weekend in a new, shorter form.

The annual race – set for Sunday, June 5 at 8:30 a.m. – is a five-km distance this year, as opposed to its former 10-km length.

Shorter distance aside, the run will start at its familiar place, along Marine Drive at Bayview Park. The new course runs the length of Marine Drive, from West to East Beach, and finishes back at Bayview Park.

As well, the course will be open long enough for “steady walkers” to finish the course within the time limit, too – something organizers are “super excited about” according to a new release issued earlier this month.

Entry into the race is $23 (or $20 for those with a BC Athletics membership), and more information can be found at www.sunrunners.ca. Race packages can also be picked up from Peninsula Runners (1708 152 St.) on Friday or Saturday before the event.
