Steve Koshey's winning goal just 1:16 into overtime propelled the Surrey Eagles to a 3-2 victory over the Nanaimo Clippers at South Surrey Arena Wednesday.
The Eagles have now won six straight games – and seven of their last 10 – and sit just one point shy of the Cowichan Valley Capitals, who currently hold down top spot in the BC Hockey League's Coastal Conference.
Surrey netminder Andrew Hunt was the star Wednesday, stopping 43 of 45 Nanaimo shots.
Robert Lindores – who opened the scoring just 1:51 into the first period – and Alex Hagen also scored for the Eagles, while Dan Correale, who potted a shorthanded marker, and Josh Bryan replied for the Clippers, who sit just two games over .500, in fifth place in the conference.
The Eagle are back on the ice Friday when they host the Powell River Kings.
