Surrey Eagles are now preparing to feast on their next opponent in the second round of playoffs, starting Friday (April 19).
At South Surrey Arena last Friday night (April 12), the home team won 5-2 over Cowichan Valley Capitals to secure a 4-1 series victory in the opening round of BC Hockey League playoffs.
Liam Tanner scored twice for the Eagles, with singles from Zachary Wagnon, Micah Berger and Jagjeevan Phangura. In net, Ajeet Gundarah stopped 31 of 33 shots.
For the Eagles, Round 2 of the playoffs will begin with home games Friday and Saturday (April 19-20), starting at 7:15 p.m. nightly. Tickets are available on tickets.surreyeagles.ca. As of Monday (April 22) it’s not clear which team Surrey will face, either Coquitlam Express or Victoria Grizzlies.

After a midweek split on the road in Duncan, the Eagles had an opportunity to win their opening-round playoff series on home ice Friday night (April 12). Heading in, Surrey had a 3-1 series lead after a 4-2 win Wednesday (April 10) at Cowichan Community Centre, where Eagles goals were scored by Ryan Evenhuis, Zachary Wagnon, Micah Berger and Massimo Fazio. In net, Jaiden Sharma stopped 31 of 33 shots.
The Cam Keith-coached Eagles skated to a pair of home-ice wins to kick off the playoff series.
