The Semiahmoo Totems and the Southridge Storm are into the quarterfinal round of their respective tournaments at the B.C. Senior Boys High School Basketball Championships at the Langley Events Centre (LEC).
The Totems, competing in the Senior 4A category, rolled to a 93-72 victory over the Cowichan Thunderbirds Wednesday morning.
Patrick Dujmovic and Curtis Harvey each had 26 points for the Totems, with Elias Ellison recording a double double with 18 points and a dozen rebounds.
Brian Spanier also scored in double figures, finishing with 16 points while Greg Saourine was the game's top rebounder with 13.
Semiahmoo, the tournament's seventh-seed, will play the second-seed Yale Lions tonight (Thursday) at 8:15 p.m. in the Arena Bowl at the LEC.
The Storm had little trouble in their Senior AA first-round game, defeating the Nechako Valley Vikings of Vanderhoof 88-69.
Southridge held a 28-12 lead after the first quarter and 53-36 at half time. They outscored the Vikings 25-9 in the third period, taking a 78-45 lead into the final 10 minutes.
Hunter Hughes, the most valuable player at the Fraser Valley championship tournament, tallied 31 points and had 15 rebounds to lead Southridge. Sam Chan added another 19 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists.
The Storm are the second-seed in the tournament, and will tip-off against the seventh-seed Clarence Fulton Maroons tonight at 6:45 p.m in the South Court at the LEC.
