Surrey soccer fans will want to circle May 11 on their calendars. That’s the day Unity FC will play both their men’s and women’s home openers at Cloverdale Athletic Park (CAP).

Unity FC play in League 1 British Columbia (L1BC). The club has relocated from Langley to Cloverdale for their upcoming season. They’ll face the TSS Rovers in their 2024 home opener.

Unity is a semi-pro club, with both men’s and women’s teams. The teams will play at the main pitch, CAP No. 2, next to the red field house.

“We are thrilled for the season to start and we cannot wait to welcome fans to our new home at Cloverdale Athletic Park to experience Unity FC’s exciting matches,” Kelcey Brade, Unity FC co-owner and president, said in a press release.

“Our preparations are underway for May 11, and with the unwavering support of our fans, we aim to deliver a ‘fans-first’ environment, while competing for trophies,” he added.

L1BC released the 2024 regular season schedule last week and Unity FC’s teams (both men and women) will each play a 14-game season, with seven home matches to be played on the same days—with games back-to-back—at CAP.

Unity starts the season with a pair of away tilts against Vancouver Whitecaps Academy on April 28 at Thunderbird Stadium.

The club plays its home opener in the third week of L1BC’s season after playing away for its second game of the season against Burnaby FC.

For their Saturday home-opener, games will start at 1 p.m with Unity FC women kicking off first. The men’s game will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Gates to the field at CAP No. 2 will open at noon and organizers say fans can expect a “fun-filled afternoon” with fan interactive zones, live music, a beer garden, and food trucks on site. The club’s “Fans First” mantra aims to deliver “the best sporting experience for fans of all ages,” according to the release.

The club is currently selling season tickets. For more information on the club, or how to get season tickets, visit unityfc.ca. According to the website, if fans buy season tickets before April 21, they’ll be able to lock in their seats “for the entire regular season at just $7.25 per home match day.”
