Surrey Mounties report charges are not being pursued related to a brawl that broke out at Newton Athletic Park on Nov. 4 during a Vancouver Metro Soccer League game between a South Asian team from Surrey and a Latin American team from Vancouver.
It was apparently triggered by a foul.
Six police cars, with officers from the Surrey Police Service and Surrey RCMP attending, were called to the park at 7395 128 Street. No arrests were made. According to a Vancouver Metro Soccer League schedule, the DLT Blazers were playing Vancouver Patagonia FC A that evening on turf number six.
“Players from both teams did not want to pursue the matter further and the file was concluded,” Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha told the Now-Leader on March 26.
